I started to do banking online six years ago and I love it. What are the benefits of doing everything online? Convenient, fast and accurate. Isn’t it wonderful if you are just sitting in front of your computer and within 10 minutes, you can pay your bills, compute how much money you have in the back, you can save your check for something else and you can sip your coffee while watching your kids playing out in the yard? I so loved it too when we went out of the country for almost two years and had credit card payments, and I was able to do it even if I was on the other side of the world. There are people who don’t trust banking online, but oh well, it’s their choice and I had mine.

If you bank at Discover and you do banking online, you get a great deal going on. Discover gives higher rates which means more money on your savings. The same as traditional banks, your deposits, interest and balance are calculated and stored electronically. You can see how much money you have in your bank in a click of a mouse. For me, there is no greater deal than knowing how much money you have left in your either checking or savings and your finances would be organized.

Most or all banks are members of FDIC to ensure that all depositors are insured for up to $250,000 per insured bank. That’s why when you start looking for banks for your financial needs, make sure that the bank is a member of FDIC so that you know that what you deposited is insured, in case something happened to the bank, you can get a certain percent of your money back. Most people go to a bigger and more popular back, in full hope that it’s not going banckrupt. What if like us, we live here in the South and we don’t have those popular banks, we have Credit Unions and other never heard of rural banks. Do we need to worry that our money is not safe? Although we don’t have that much money in our bank account, we still need to make sure that whatever money we have is safe.

We also need to remember that we choose where we bank because of the reputation and the promises of low interest rates on car or house loans. Sometimes we love our banks because of the friendly people that work there. There are plenty of reasons why we choose to do our business in a specific bank, and two of those reasons are efficiency and honesty.
